Revit 2013 Hotfix Available

heads up from The Revit Clinic :

Revit 2013 Hotfix Available

A Hotfix for Revit 2013 has just been posted. It addresses issues in two main areas:

Part Family:
  • Prevents data loss during upgrade of families containing specific material parameters.
  • Improves stability and memory usage within graphics display.
  • Improves vector print output of transparent elements and masking regions.
  • Prevents accidental data loss during cancellation of the in-place family editor.
Revit Server:
  • Revit would occasionally report that an operation could not be completed when attempting a worksharing operation after a period of inactivity, if Riverbed devices were used in conjunction with Revit Server. A subsequent retry of the operation would then succeed. When this hotfix is applied to Revit, this behavior is eliminated. No changes to Revit Server are required.
Make sure that Update Release 2 has been applied prior to adding the Hotfix. Verify that the build number of Revit 2013 is 20121003_2115.

The Hotfix is available here:

Edited to add the instructions from the readme file below.....

Installation Instructions
NOTE: You must have administrative privileges on your Microsoft® Windows® operating system to complete the installation process.
NOTE: You must have Autodesk Revit 2013 Update 2 installed on the system in order to apply this hotfix.
Preparing for Installation
  1. Download and unzip the appropriate version(s) of the hotfix.
To Install the Hotfix on Revit
For each instance of Revit:
  1. Shut down Revit.
  2. Locate the Program folder beneath the program root of your Revit installation.  Ex. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2013\Program\
  3. Locate the files at the root of the hotfix location.
For each file in the hotfix, locate the corresponding file in the [Revit install root]\Program\ folder of your Revit installation.  (This folder can be found beneath the Program folder of your Revit program root.).  Append the extension ".orig" to each file and copy the new version from the hotfix folder.  In doing so, you will have renamed the old version of the file and replaced it with a new copy from the hotfix.
At this point, you will have renamed 7 files beneath the Program folder of your Revit install:
      [Revit install root]\Program\RS.Common.ClientServer.Proxy.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\DataStorageClient.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\DesktopMFC.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\FamilyDB.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\GeomUtil.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\Graphics.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\GrphOGS3.dll
  1. Locate the RevitServerToolCommand folder within the hotfix location.
For each file in this folder, locate the corresponding file in the [Revit install root]\Program\RevitServerToolCommand folder of your Revit installation.  Append the extension ".orig" to that file and copy the new version from the hotfix folder.  In doing so, you will have renamed the old version of the file and replaced it with a new copy from the hotfix.
At this point, you will have renamed 2 files beneath the Program folder of your Revit install:
      [Revit install root]\Program\RevitServerToolCommand\RS.Common.ClientServer.Proxy.dll
      [Revit install root]\Program\RevitServerToolCommand\CommandServiceClient.dll
